Warranty of a previously purchased filter

I was provided all of the necessary support in a kind manner and was walked through the trouble shooting process which discovered a defective just replaced re mineralizing cartrige filter which is last in line of all the filters. The filter was warranted however I was expected to pay the shipping costs. I do appreciate all the help I was provided but I don’t feel I should have had to pay shipping.
