FAQs

How do I know which system is right for my home?

Start with your water data, not the product page. Email us your ZIP code for a free water analysis, or book a consultation — we review your municipality’s EPA and EWG records and recommend based on what’s actually in your water. If you’re on a well, we’ll point you to the right test kit first.

Are your systems NSF certified?

Every system we carry is NSF certified. Certifications differ by standard — NSF 42 covers taste and odor, NSF 53 covers health contaminants like lead, NSF 58 covers reverse osmosis. We’ll provide the specific certification and verified contaminant list for any system on request. See our certifications page.

Does reverse osmosis remove PFAS?

A properly certified RO system removes up to 99% of PFAS — it’s the technology the EPA points to. Pitcher and refrigerator filters generally do not remove PFAS. Details in our PFAS explainer.

Do I need a plumber to install an under-sink RO system?

Most under-sink systems are designed for confident DIY installation with basic tools, and countertop systems require no installation at all. Whole-house systems typically warrant professional installation. Each product page lists what’s involved; we’re happy to talk it through before you buy.

How often do filters need replacing?

It varies by system and stage — sediment and carbon pre-filters typically run 6–12 months, RO membranes 2–4 years. The exact schedule is on each product page, and every recommendation we make includes the maintenance schedule and its real cost over time.

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship directly from the manufacturer’s warehouse. Timing varies by brand and item — if an item is marked backorder or shows a notify-me form, it will say so on the product page. For anything time-sensitive, contact us before ordering and we’ll confirm availability.

What is your return policy?

Returns are handled per manufacturer policy, which varies by brand — most require items unused and in original packaging within a set window, and used filters generally can’t be returned for hygiene reasons. Contact contact@reinwaterusa.com with your order number and we’ll open the return and walk you through it.

Is there a warranty on your systems?

Yes — every system carries its manufacturer’s warranty (shown on each product page). If anything goes wrong, contact us and we’ll coordinate the claim with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Do you work with businesses and contractors?

Yes. We supply offices, restaurants, gyms, and other commercial facilities, and we work with contractors and builders on multi-unit projects — including spec sheets and compliance documentation. Start at our commercial quote page or contractor program.

My water tastes fine. Do I still need a filter?

Maybe not — and we’ll tell you if that’s the case. But taste isn’t a reliable indicator: PFAS, lead, and nitrates have no taste, smell, or color. The only way to know is data — get a free water analysis and decide from there.

Not sure where to start?
